"Burns continues star rise?" Really? He beat a guy with an 14-4 record who had never beaten a ranked opponent and had gotten 11 of his 14 wins against opponents with a combined 3 wins. Burns' title defense before that was also a softy opponent. He looked great outpointing Martinez for the title, but it's hard to classify him a "star" on the "rise" until he defends against a few legitimate challengers or at least beats a mediocre belt-holder like Fana. Whipping an 14-4 opponent doesn't really make one a "star."

Great performance tonight by Ricky, certainly showed his class. He fought a tricky fighter tonight (see the Appleby fight). Ignore the bs poster above me, if you saw Laryea fight his last fight you certainly wouldnt be questioning his resume or his class, Ricky will definitely be a multi title holder.

Either way, this fight was a tune-up/pay-day. Burns won the title in September, and has defended it twice since.

He's keeping active so people can't complain - would you rather he fight only two or 3 times a year or 5-6 times? As long as he unifies in his next fight or at least fights a top-10 then I'm happy.

SFW division isn't what it used to be but it looks like Fana and Burns are willing to unify, which would also be for the lineal title.

I aint hyping up anyone, im just saying Laryea's resume doesnt show a true representation of his ability.

BS my ass. If Burns' punch could break wind he would have KO'd him early. Appleby? Do you really want to say beating Appleby means somebody is a legit contender? Laryea was the second b.s. defense in a row. Evensen before him had beaten nobody.
Burns may be a "multi title holder" only because the 130 lb division is god awful other than Uchiyama. The thing, is Burns will beat his ridiculous WBO mandatory, Jandaeng, pretty easily so he should have just gotten that out of the way.
Nothing wrong with being a fan, but the headline for this story is over the top. Burns is a plucky fighter who, given the division, may hold his title for quite a while. But this is, in no way, a "star making" win
