You know what the Scumbags in Boxing I can respect a little bit.....

    MMA is dead....

MMA is now the UFC. If you thought Dana White was evil before, you have not seen anything yet. The fighters are going to be fighting for peanuts because there is no where else to fight. The Zuffa machine is going to squeeze the life out everything and everyone that come in contact with the UFC. Alot of the pioneers of the sport of MMA are going to be written out of its history. I said it a long time ago, a monopoly is never good for anyone other then the owners.

"We need more fighters" yet they cut Gerald Harris for losing one fight coming off a three fight win streak.

Now nobody can defy the Zuffa overlords. No dissension, no place for refuge. If you get cut by Zuffa (and you know how much they love their cuts following the WEC merger) you're headed to MFC, Bellator or Shark Fights (6K paychecks ftl) . JMMA is dead too so there's TRULY no home for fighters who don't bow to the altar of Dana White.

Dana said it himself, they're not doing negotiations with Josh Barnett when his contract is up.

Once the deal with Showtime is up Dana and company will in all likelihood dissolve Strikeforce and move their best talent (the Alistairs and the Gilberts) to the UFC and scrap the rest of the roster.

They clearly didn't do this for more fighters because they're getting rid of guys left and right as it is. The writing's on the wall. Sell your soul or get the **** out of MMA.

    http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/03/12/zuffa-purchases-strikeforce/

Now I know this has nothing to with Boxing but im just giving you examples of how even with all the politics and all the scumbags running the sport of Boxing and not only that but the horrible judges and Fixes in the sport that MMA with Zuffa Buying out Strikforce this basically menas the end of a golden era especially after their Showtime contract is up that they are all going to be absorbed into the UFC and the Sport of Mixed Martial Arts is gonna be known as the UFC....its really a sad day......

Hey Ultra what's up. Dude, when I heard about this it made me so sad. The sport of MMA that I used to know and love is now just the UFC. Instead of high production values we get the same Gladitor Intro, the same shit every event, and for sure without a doubt they'll do the same thing with Strikeforce that they did with Pride. They'll put on a few shows, then sign all the top stars and fire the rest. It's a sad sad day for MMA.

How is MMA dead? If anything it will be bigger than ever now that the UFC has effectively destroyed its competition. They will have a much larger roster which=more fights frequently and more matchup options. Competition between organizations may be dead, but the sport isn't.

But this may be great news for Boxing because Strikeforce being absorbed by the UFC means that they will most likely not broadcast cards on Showtime and have no partnership with CBS, leaving Boxing to fill that void. If I was Arum, I would be on the phone right now with Hershman talking about those soon to be open slots. Also would be talking to CBS about bringing a show like Top Rank Live to the main network (if he isn't already).

I heard about this a few hours ago and i'm yet to make an opinion. The Shotime contract lasts another 2 years so for now things will stay as they are. Dana says things are "business as usual" but I fear, like they did with Pride, they'll pick a couple of the guys they want (Overeem and Fedor, basically), and cut everyone else.

The UFC will totally monopolise the sport. I really like Strikeforce, they seemed to be really, really moving in leaps and bounds, now we get this.

I'll be honest, i'm worried for the future of the sport. Maybe i'm wrong, but i'm still worried.

Its good for the fans and the Scumbag Fertias and Dana White but for the Fighters it means less big money and less options to fight in..... like I said the ones that get cut will getting payed less than 10k fighting for a d level org....(Bobby Lashley is a dumbass for leaving Strikeforce now....)

Basically its either fight for one of these orgs (Or UFC mainly) or get **** purse every fight.....

The real heart and spirit in the sport is gonna end up dying pretty soon and this is the countdown....

With Japanese MMA dead espeacially after those Natural disasters its not gonna be the same.....

Thats why I said "Say what you will about Boxing but at least its not going down a darker path"........

Only hope now is if Strikeforce does so well it can't go to waist or if Bellator on MTV2 blows up and not bow down to the Zuffa influence.....

Yeah, that's the UFC's M.O.- they did it with PRIDE, WEC, and they'll do it with Strikeforce. Dana White/ZUFFA has effectively monopolized MMA. And the fact that SHOW Sports and White hate one another means its likely they won't be doing business together any time soon. It will be SPIKE and PPV as usual.

But like I said, perfect opportunity for Boxing to fill the void. Let's see how they handle this one.

Yeah they better look into it.....This can actually help Boxing

Zuffa era has begun in more ways than 1.....

                  RIP a lot of things
Strike force had the most flexible contracts and that helped them create an interesting nich.
now all of that is capute

They're going to cut 90% of the Strikeforce roster and dicatate the careers of every single MMA fighter. If you don't fight for Zuffa you'll have NOWHERE to go. This is NOT good news

                  And also its confirmed...

                  twitter.com/JoshGrossESPN

"The UFC/Strikeforce split is all about contracts. Once they're fulfilled with Showtime, I'm told a WEC type merger is planned.less than a minute ago"

No question that it's terrible for the fighters, but for the fans it may not be such a bad thing. When UFC/ZUFFA bought out PRIDE, they had so many fight options and had champions from both organizations duking it out for supremacy and the UFC thrived, was constantly bringing 500K-1 million+ buys every month and growing in the mainstream. Same thing will probably happen here. They'll get Fedor, Overeem, Barnett, etc and have more big fight cards to put together.

I wonder if Arum knew about this deal going down and that's why he made the move to SHOW/CBS. Wouldn't surprise me one bit, he is a cagey **** and always several moves ahead on the chess board.
