Floyd is so far ahead of most modern boxers technically that it just seems like he invents these moves. But American boxing had all these techniques and many more back in the old days.

I'm guessing that Floyd Sr. learned them from an old-style trainer from Michigan and then passed them on to his brothers and to his son.
