Comments Thread For: Alexander vs Matthysse: Sides are Apart on The Money

BoxingScene.com was advised by Don King, promoter for former junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KOs), that he's still trying to finalize the terms for an HBO televised fight against hard-hitting Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KOs) of Argentina. The fight is being positioned for a date of June 25. According to King, negotiations are ongoing with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, but so far the two sides have not agreed on the money.

I know lucas dont got alot of leverage,But alexander has lost alot of
leverage with his last couple of fights.First his gift win with kotlenik,And then
          his ugly fight with bradley.

Well, I guess it is true that Devon is the bigger star... Even though he's really in no position to be making NOT taking fights over money disputes as bad as he's his last 2 fights, this still is how boxing works

Don King is always way apart cash wise on any negotiations to begin with. This is a good fight, everyone seems to want a piece of Alexander now. Matthysse can really ****, promises to be better than Bradley fight. God knows HBO could use some programming.

Alexander should go for Zab instead.

The Alexander camp is always at odds over the money.

Devon is a big draw, and compared to Matthysse, is a huge draw.

The Devon/Bradley fight did like a 2.5 sumthing rating which is like still 1.5 million people and I get it's a business but I would think Devon would be chomping at the bit no matter what to redeem himself from quiting like he did.take whatever offer it is,greenburg already promised Devon and Bradley a hbo date no matter the outcome before their fight, come out and PROVE it was a lesson learned against a tough mathysse, and get rid of Cunningham, he's garbage.
