Twitter happy rapper turned movie maker 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson is no stranger to practical jokes or causing controversy.
Only last week for instance he launched a senseless tirade against Manny Pacquiao, accusing the fighting congressman of amongst other things using steroids and of only fighting pal Floyd Mayweather's leftovers.
Which came largely from his friendship and more recently business partnership with Pacquiao's chief rival Floyd Mayweather rather than any kind of insight or knowledge about boxing.
But his latest stunt on the social media tool might just have backfired on him.
It began harmlessly enough when Cent for some reason sent an explicit picture of an as yet unidentified female to the recently engaged Floyd Mayweather.
Presumably never stopping to think along the way that perhaps a social media platform visible to anyone with a computer and internet connection might not be the best way to deliver something meant for Mayweather's eyes alone.
The way it appeared on Miss Jackson's feed however apparently looked to viewers as if she had posted it herself.
Immediately numerous sites and blogs reported that the explicit picture was in fact Mayweather's fiancee, model Miss Jackson, and that it had been posted by her in error.
This understandably upset Mayweather, not someone known for keeping a level head at the best of times.
Cent, who seems to find the whole situation fairly amusing, then tweeted:
"LMAO media take out has a pic up I sent to floyd saying its his fiancée that's one of my jump off's dat thang look good. Lol"
"I took that picture my self hahaha . Now floyd mad at me. He said don't send me no **** like dat. LMAO"
And later:
"I just got off the phone with Floyd Mayweather he said he ain't my friend no more cause I'm crazy. His old lady Mad they saying its her"
"I said I don't care he always get mad at me. LMAO he gonna call back after he calm down. ms.jackson said he shouldn't have had it."
Mayweather himself has so far stayed silent on the subject, no doubt either eager to let the story die before it gets any more attention or still angry at Cent for causing the embarrassing confusion in the first place.
After the latest now semi-regular steroid accusation filled rant directed at Pacquiao though, which seem to emanate from the Mayweather camp every couple of month or so, it's difficult to have much sympathy for Floyd.
Not for the first time it appears that Mayweather has gotten a taste of his own medicine after first insulting Pacquiao, and this time at the hands of his closest confidante and chief rabble-rouser.
