The fight would have to be at 170 because Hopkins can't get any lighter.

At that weight, Hopkins has a instant advantage right there.

Martinez has quick hands and he moves well but his defense is sloppy at times, which is no good against Hopkins who is excellent at picking his shots and finding openings in a fighters defense. Because of the extra weight Martinez's stamina and punch output will likely decline especially down the stretch which works to Hopkins advantage as he likes the fight at a slow pace.

It will be interesting to see how Martinez deals with Hopkins dirty inside tactics and Hopkins defense as well.

Close fight but Hopkins taking the win. Martinez could maybe win but given his style and having to go up in weight, the two don't support one other.

going up in weight? you mean martinez would only have to cut 20 pounds at a 170 fight instead of the 30 to 35 he normally cuts.

Maybe Martinez is a true killer at that weight who knows.

At this point, I don't think it's a fair fight. Hopkins is simply too big for him. He'd win a big decision simply due to damage, possibly dropping Martinez or stopping him.

Now, if they were both able to be the same size but fight to the best of their abilities at this stage, it'd be looked at one of two ways, Either Hopkins is drained and Martinez is energised, I can actually see Martinez dominating Martinez. However, if Hopkins isn't drained but is still at the stage in his career that he currently is, then it's a closer fight, but I'd still pick Martinez.

Prime Vs. Prime is hard to determine. Tough fight for both with the styles involved. I'd probably favor Hopkins.

Hopkins is far too big and kills him right now. If it was prime for prime then Hopkins actually kills him even worst. People forget how good Hopkins was. Sergio is nowhere near the level of a prime Hopkins in even a P4P sense

lol how is it hard to determine? Prime hopkins did you see him?? This is a no brainer.

I guess some people on here must really only remember 40+ year old hopkins and/or never watched him in his prime, which is a shame. He was 40 years old when he fought taylor, 41 against Tarver, 43 against Joe & pavlik, 45 against pascal.

Watch hopkins in his 30's and tell me martinez would be a tough fight for him.
