Haye more popular than Wlad on NSB..

Least according to the poll results so far on this forum..

I hope this reflects my argument yesterday that boxing needs Haye to win as to put our favourite sport firmly back in the spotlight due to his arrogance, brashness and outspoken jibes (all sport needs a bad boy who backs it up)

If Wlad wins then absolute credit to the man, 100%. However, it won’t detract from the fact that his personality will remain uninteresting to wider general public.

David Haye? Clearly the man most people on this forum want to win, and I’d hazard a firm guess most people in the world want to win as well.

Wlad is the more popular of the two.

Most of Wlad's fans in Germany and the Ukraine don't read English and so don't post here.

Many are just rooting for the underdog, or for the fighter who is challenging a status quo they're unhappy with.

Haye's actual popularity, as a personality and fighter, has declined on this forum, while general respect for Wlad has actually gone up, in the last 18 months to 2 years.

I dont root for Haye normally but i want him to stop Wlad to set up a Vitaly fight so we can have 2 significant hw fights instead of just one. Im picking Wlad by stoppage though.

Note, threadstarter, that Eddie Chambers received similar support from the forum, prior to his fight with Wladimir.

The younger contender with some speed and a little razzle-dazzle stepping up to the giant Ukrainian heavyweight ruler. A not dissimilar deal.

The 'shake-up' and 'underdog' factors are accountable for a lot of the support votes for Haye. Some slow Englishmen account for the rest.

NB; Wlad's last opponent, Sam Peter, didn't receive the same support because everybody gave up on him long ago, pretty much.

The TS said more popular on Boxingscene not Boxing in general!

I think a lot of people on here are rooting for Haye as he's the underdog.

I did use to like Haye, thought he'd reignite the division; in a way he has because he's dethroned a very boring to watch fighter (Valuev). Then he had to fight Ruiz which I thought was a good idea because he was (and still is) reasonably unexperienced at this weight class but Harrison was a joke! A fight which goes far from reigniting the division, even if it was big in Britain.

But this fight should grab global interest and if Haye wins, then I think it would be better for boxing in general as there would be another massive fight after this when he fights Vitali (if he fights Vitali).

Although I've lost respect for Haye, I want him to win this! 2 big fights in the heavyweight division is what the sport needs! And hopefully he won't retire as soon as he said he would also.

So because Haye, allegedly, is more popular on a random boxingforum than his opponent then we should all hope for a Haye win?

What a terrific topic for a thread.
