If he's not #3, he's certainly up there. He's been marketed right yes, but he also has a very unique look/style, which helps him. I just hope he doesn't get torched out! That being said, I don't think it will happen. It will be selective matchmaking at it's finest, just like what's going on with Manny Pacquiao right now. They don't want to kill the cash cow.
Is canelo already the 3rd biggest draw in boxing?

cotto has also headlined one of the lowest rated hbo bad cards in history. When cotto fought margarito it was 90-10 in favor of Margarito. cotto is a draw only in new york on the day of the puerto rican parade. Cotto does not draw well, he needs others to help him carry a fight. That's been proven. Canelo carried the card by himself vs someone no one in the united states knows.Comment

like i said cotto has done more ppv's, attendance and a higher rating on hbo. cotto>>>alvarez right now, eventually canelo will surpass him but he hasn't yet.cotto has also headlined one of the lowest rated hbo bad cards in history. Canelo has more viewers in mexico with abraham and sturm combined.
And i doubt sturm and abraham can bring 11,000 fans in the u.sAnd bring
big ratings in hbo.Comment

I think Cotto might be the better fight.
But, as a draw -and I'm assuming we just talking about in the U.S not all of boxing- I think Canelo is the bigger draw.
I would lean towards Alvarez right now. I think the PPV in June 18 will tell more about his drawing power.Comment

******* really IS a hell of a drug. Which BaD card was this, was it Cotto's first card? Did you just reference a BaD rating which is always garbage anyway, as well as what was the ratings difference from the average rate anyway was it lower by .01 or 2 or 3 points? Secondly, of course Cotto isn't going to be a draw in Vegas its about... 48 hours away from New York by car and only 4 hours from Los Angeles of course more Mexicans are going to show up thats simply how PROMOTING works. If you wonder why Manny is a draw in Vegas (I live here btw) is because Vegas has a huge percentage of filipinos who mainly move from Hawaii. Just like Puerto Ricans go to New York, Cubans in Florida and Mexicans well... everywhere.cotto has also headlined one of the lowest rated hbo bad cards in history. How many PPV's has Canelo sold? Oh, thats right none because he hasn't been on a major PPV card yet so how the hell is he even close to number 3? Let me know when he gets 3 million and then he can start to be mentioned with Cotto and thats before the Mayorga fight which should bring in another 300k and Cotto/Margarito II will do 1 million I think, maybe more. What if Cotto gets Manny again as well that will be another 1 million... damn I've said all this and forgot to mention what if Canelo LOSES :O
He has talent but the kid needs work and I know he is a massive draw in Mexico. I really like his style actually because he kind of reminds me of Cotto, I hope he does well but seriously even calling him #3 in boxing in terms of revenue at least stateside... I mean Jesus Christ, I can bring up the Klits who put 60k people in the seats Cotto shouldn't even be #3 on the list really but I understand the "States" is where it matters.Comment

Its nothing like Pacquiao, Mexicans are knowledgeable about the sport they don't jump ship after a loss.Comment
