Cotto: "Nobody wins with their mouth."

Of course Cotto is going to kill Mayorga, I didn't know that there was any other logical outcome~ if it was young Mayorga it would be a bit different but unless Mayorga found the fountain of youth or built a time machine that Mayorga isn't showing up.
I disagree with Cotto's point although for him in this situation it appears to be true. To me boxing is more mental than physical and words can often get guys off their game, if a guy is not in the right mind he will have an almost impossible task when it comes to winning. You can't discount the mental side of the game.Comment

Based on his career, Cotto seems as if Boxing to him is strictly business as where some fighters ride the hype and trash talking and bring it in the ring with them. Seeing that Mayorga is approaching him prior and acting cool and then minutes later going off and talking ****, I'd like to think Cotto's embraced the idea that some people just have their way of selling the fight. Do I think that's getting into Cotto's head and affecting his preparation? Highly doubt it.Of course Cotto is going to kill Mayorga, I didn't know that there was any other logical outcome~ if it was young Mayorga it would be a bit different but unless Mayorga found the fountain of youth or built a time machine that Mayorga isn't showing up.

If Cotto can't hurt Mayorga than Mayorga might win. Cotto's power is overrated and Mayorga has a decent chin. Has Cotto learned how to fight going backwards yet? If Mayorga can walk him down and throw combinations he can win.
This fight is gonna be way more entertaining that Martinez vs Driziniunk (sp)Comment

The way Cotto is handling Mayorga is correct, he doesn't appear to be letting it get to him. If you are not into talking you can't get ****** into his game which appears to be his plan.Based on his career, Cotto seems as if Boxing to him is strictly business as where some fighters ride the hype and trash talking and bring it in the ring with them. Talking can be effective but in this situation it shouldn't matter because there needs to be something to back up that talk and Mayorga presently doesn't have much of that something.Comment

But the most interesting thing to preen from this video is what Cotto says at at the end about Margarito. When asked why he has reconsidered a fight with Margacheato he says "to get the thorn out of his side." He also speaks about the likelihood that Tony also came in the ring with loaded gloves against him. It is probably the first time I have really heard him say that he believes Tony was probably packing for their fight and that if you look at Tony's fights post Cotto his performances speak for themselves. He's right and truth be told once a cheater always a cheater, hell margs even tried to get himself jacked up against Manny, busted(Plaster pun intended).Comment

Cotto can fight pretty decent going backwards but your judgments only look at his fights with Margarito and Pacman. Two guys you most certainly don't want to fight going backwards unless that is your thing. Cotto has plenty of power to hurt Mayorga I am actually a little concerned for Mayorga's overall health in this fight. He is in shape but his best days are behind him and all thats really left is a bit of power and his will. This will likely be a devastatingly brutal night for him but maybe he does get lucky and land that shot that gets him one more ride around the block.
Im sure Atlas will pick Mayorga to win, he will have to keep his win streak alive.Comment

i believe that Cotto has power. it may seem overrated, but consider the people he fought. Mosley, Pac and Margarito. If Cotto can't hurt Mayorga than Mayorga might win. Mosley's chin is already proven to be granite, Margarito CAN take serious punishment and smile the whole time, and Pac just PRETENDS not to be hurt by the punches.
the question now is does he still have it? his performance with mayorga should show us the answer.Comment

can't win with their mouth???? but what is winning? because if sales goes up because of that mouth, you bet your sweetass that is winning.......
i'm just being a prick.......... cotto is going to handle his business, but like i said before, mayorga is looking in the best shape i've seen him in since his fights with vernon forrest.
if cotto can't get his respect with his power, mayorga will walk thourgh him and make cotto work his ass of for that win.
i'm not a guy that is big on talk, but mayorga has that crazy ****** thing going on, ******ed strength and chin(sometimes, lol)
this ought to be a good fight.
i'm supposed to go to it, one of my friends fighters is fighting on the card, jeremy mcluarin, he's fighting udefeated 10-0 puerto rican juan gonzalez......
