Cotto & Mayorga's Speeches from Today's Press Conference

    http://www.fight*news.com/Boxing/cot...heats-up-77626

WBA super welterweight champion Miguel Cotto refused to let Ricardo Mayorga get under his skin on Monday at a Los Angeles press conference. Cotto would neither look at Mayorga, nor would he acknowledge any of his taunts. Here’s what was said:

Miguel Cotto: “I have two messages here and I’m going to be pretty quick. The first message is for Don King. He talks about sacrifices and he’s pretty used to sacrificing because he was involved in one of the recent events involving Devon Alexander with Timothy Bradley. He had to sacrifice Alexander. It’s going to be the same on March 12th with different characters because it’s not Devon Alexander or Bradley this time around, it’s Miguel Cotto and Ricardo Mayorga and it will be deja vu, as (Mayorga) will be the one sacrificed. I’m pretty comfortable with my preparation. I’m pretty good with my corner.

“The second thing that I have to say, when you send an idiot to do a smart thing, like Don King sending Mayorga to the mic, the only thing you can expect is an idiot, nothing else.”

Ricardo Mayorga: “I’d like to thank God and everyone present. I’ve trained from the heart, I put in 100% and I’m coming here not only to beat Cotto but to knock him out. People around the world only know the two greatest promoters of all times which are Don King and Bob Arum. By beating and knocking Cotto out I’m putting a stamp on this fight after my victory that Don is the best promoter and Bob is number two.

“Coming into the ring the majority of all Puerto Ricans watching the fight live are going to be on my side, and after the fight the ones that weren’t on my side will be on my side. And I’m putting money on myself that I’m going to knock him out. I’m the best. I’m better than Cotto. His best moments, his best time of his career is when he was fighting 135/140 but when he came up to 147/154 that’s when he made a mistake. Jimmy (Lennon, Jr.), I ask you a favor, when you introduce me as the ‘new world champion’ do it with all your heart, ‘four time world champion.’

“When I put my belt around my waist, you’ll see Miguel, when they put your belt around my waist ‘right here.’ This is where your belt’s going. Like Don (King) says, bet for the knock out, not just for the win, you’re going to win a lot of money.

“Cotto, I just ask one thing from you, don’t do the same thing that you did with Margarito. After he knocked you down the first time, the second time you went down without him even landing a punch. Stand there in front of me and let me keep punishing you and then go out, but don’t take a knee on me.

“I come from the country where women give birth to men. I’m ready to fight, and like I said it last weekend and I can make the weight right now at 156 lbs and if no one believes me, bring a scale right here and I’ll go on the scale, let Cotto go on the scale and I’m ready to go.

“Miguel get up, show your stomach just like I’m showing mine, why not? Thank you again, like Don said, this is a war, I love all Puerto Rico, I have to sacrifice somebody and it’s going to be Cotto. I’m going to make Cotto sign up for the Ricky Martin fan club after the fight that’s what he’s going to have to do. That’s where he has to be. The eyebrows nicely plucked, nicely dressed, that’s where he belongs, not in boxing. Look at these hands that are going to be punishing you on Saturday night.

“Remember you called me a clown? I might be a clown but I’m a happy clown. I’m going to laugh hardest and laugh last when I’m being crowned champion.”

They wrote Cotto's part to make it understandable. Because he spoke english, and really made very little sense.

Cotto's line is the best line used against Mayorga ever, accent or not.

“The second thing that I have to say, when you send an idiot to do a smart thing, like Don King sending Mayorga to the mic, the only thing you can expect is an idiot, nothing else.”

Is there a video? I'd like to see the part where Cotto leaves the stage immediately after pictures and Mayorga yells at him for walking away.
