  • What are chances of Byrd-Ruiz bout

seeing as both fighters are controlled(literally) by Don King, what are the chances of a unification bout between them? If the beltholders don't fight each other, who else are they going to fight. Besides Toney, the heavyweight division is running out of contenders for these guys to fight? Who in there right mind is gonna want to see a Ruiz-Rahman II or Golota II.

Why not? As long as King keeps the belts he doesn't care. Once he thinks he's milked enough out of them separately, he'll let the fight happen.

It's not like they're big individual cash cows. They have to fight on each other's cards to enhance the marketability of the fights.

But in the end, boxing fans buy heavyweight title fights, no matter how many on the card or what name/face is attached to them.

I don't want to see that trash....& if you like boxing...you shouldn't want to see it either.

            lol....

it does make a point as to who the top guy in the division is... all ruiz and byrd talk about is fighting VK and not each other or brewster, even though those fights would be easier to make...

I think he might be scared..
if the unification starts, then eventually a non-King champion (VK) would be assumed to fight as well. and if the fight goes off cleanly with no outside influences AND VK does happen to win, Don King is empty handed in the HW division unless he has options on the winner, which it seems K2 won't due, wisely..

              just my opinion..

if he keeps it this way, as you've stated, it's more of a milking opportunity for him.

                  None involving this current crop.
                  I'm serious.

If you care about your eyesight, you will not want to watch that fight. Like I said on another board, a Ruiz vs Byrd fight will not even generate 100,000 buys.
