Kathy Duva, CEO of Main Events, confirmed to BoxingScene.com that a junior middleweight contest has been finalized for May 20th, which pits Joel Julio (3604, 31KOs) against Antwone Smith (20-2-1, 12KOs). The bout happens at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and ESPN will televise on their Friday Night Fights series. Julio is 1-0 since Last April's knockout loss to Alfredo Angulo, while Smith has won two in a row since the stoppage loss to Lanardo Tyner last July.

A very good FNF main event and real cross roads fight for both at this stage.

I've seen Smith a few times & I like the way he fights..He's a strong solid fighter.. I was surprised when he lost to Tyner, it was a close fight & all of a sudden Tyner hurt him & dropped him twice in the 9th & it was over!! Its good to hear Smith has made some sort of come back & lets see how he looks against Julio, who most of the time when he stepped up the game lost(except against Ishe Smith & now IBF 154lbs champ Bundrage)but ain't no push over...This card would have done much better in Miami since they both live there..

I agree, I was going to write the exact same thing after I read the title. Good job by ESPN.

Is it me or has FNF's been better this year than it has in recent memory?

So what you're saying is that he's going to take the Wilfredo Vazquez Jr route? Don't bash on something when you support others who do the same thing.

Well I guess that depends on a few factors though. If Sergio M or Sergei Z wins there bout at 160lbs, does he go after money, or does he really campaing at 154lbs? If so, will he make any money fighting K9 Brundrage?
