Erislandy Lara on "FNF" March 25

ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights" will be featuring Erislandy Lara vs. Carlos Molina on March 25. Also slated to be televised is fellow Cuban Yudel Jhonson vs. Richard Gutierrez. Both are scheduled ten rounders. The fights will be held at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, NV.

Fighting on the same card, but not scheduled to be televised, are cruiserweight Yunier Dorticos (10-0, 10 KO’s), super featherweight Rances Barthelemy (10-0, 8 KO’s), and light heavyweight Vilier Quinones (2-0, 2 KO’s).

Man, ESPN is loving these Cubans!

A fight with Bundrage would be nice. Some might disagree, but I think it's a good test for Lara, and it's coming at the right point in his career. He needs solid challenges, but ones he can handle.

I was just checking out Dorticos's record on Boxrec...it's amazing how some guys' records are so padded. They have him listed at 11-0, with 11 KOs. The casual fan might think he's the next big thing. lol

Richard Gutierrez looks like he's seen better days. His career appears on the decline, and it's probably why he was chosen as Yudel Jhonson's next opponent. Looks to me like a good selection by Jhonson's handlers. Do you really think Yudel might get starched in his fight?

One of the kids I'm interested in looking at is Yordanis Ugas, a 24 year-old welterweight. Too bad he's not on this card.

Guitierrez is a solid gatekeeper and a tough fighter.

Haven't seen him. I just looked up his record to see what he might have to offer. It looks like he's on the decline, based on his most recent results. I hope it's a decent test for Jhonson. I'm curious to see what he's made of.

He is the kind of fighter a top 10 guy should beat but will come to fight and if you are just a level below that he will probably win. He may be going into a bit of decline but he still is a solid gatekeeper.

I just re-read the article previously posted on Boxingscene. The date isn't set for the Alexander-Matthysse, Bundrage-Lara bouts. In fact, the fights aren't even set in stone yet. They'll probably happen; it looks like all parties are game. I suppose the K9 match-up is being set up for Lara sometime after March 25. When I first read the article, it seemed that Bundrage was Lara's next opponent. Then I came across the news for the card at the Cosmopolitan. It's on their website.

Thanks for the input, dude. Makes me more eager to see what Jhonson's got. It's nice to know that the undercard on that night won't be just filler.
