that would be a great course of action and the best for alvarez to keep improving and like he said not only fight the mosley and the cottos but to actually beat them, but people on here are morons who want to see him fail by throwing him in with the elites bc of that dum paper belt right away.

If you're not ready to fight the best, don't take a title that claims you're one of the best.

Awesome performance by Canelo, and props to Hatton for sticking in there. I think Max Kellerman and RJJ had it right when they said that nowadays you don't see too many super talented fighters who'll lay it all on the line like Hatton did. Canelo was definitely out of his league, but he ept fighting till that final bell, and that deserves some respect. Canelo seems like he tends to get too caught up in the, "you hit me, I'll hit you back and I'll kill you!!!!" mentality. Which from an entertainment stand point is fine, but what if he goes up against some of the top guys...may not be the smartest decision. Although he looked real good at mixing up his attacks.

I think everyone understands that camel is only 20. The problem is that now he is a major title holder. He no longer has time to sit back and work more on developing his skills. He still has allot if things he needs to improve upon before he is ready to face any of the real top guys at jmw. His defence is terrible and right now anyone who can either box well and place shots or can take a punch will walk through him. I like the kid but I think gbp might have just put a bounty on his head. Easy title for 20+ guys from ww-mw

Exactly, why should these guys not be allowed to challenge for the title because Alvarez is not ready. If he's not ready he shouldn't have the belt.

Canelo just showed his age, he's just a kid...not an elite fighter yet. Not because he don't have tools to be a good but his team and GBP are rushing him way too fast!!! b4 people start w/ the hate comments cause I'm rican, I do like this kid, I think he's a talent but GBP and his team just put a huge bulls eye to this kid by giving him the green belt in a weight class which you got guys like Angulo, Margacheato, Cotto, Kirtland, even Cintron, P-Will, etc...which in my eyes all these guys have a very good chance to beat him now!!!

On the fight, he made a lot of mistakes:
1. Dropping the hands
2. Not ducking the chin
3. Loose composure (this is a big 1, w/ another referee he would've been disqualified)
4. Didn't setup punches
5. Bad defense, got hit way too many times by a class C at most fighter
6. No hip movement, no angles7. Didn't pivot when trowing the hooks or uppercuts8. Jumped in w/ hands down
9. Many others....

Angulo or Cheato will murder him
Cotto or Cintron will beat him easy by points by just giving him some angles.
Kirt will hurt him bad!!!

Best thing for the kid is to go back ww division and get a new corner and take the foot out of the pedal!!! just take your time!!!

I agree with slowing down with this kids progress. He has so much potential and at his age he is very ring smart. Your mistakes list I agree with most but the ones i bolded i don't agree with. He provided nice angles throughout the fight and his angles of attack are nice to watch especially for someone his age. And I don't see a problem with his hooks and uppercuts, they're thrown nicely and with good technique (remember it's a fight not a mitt session so you can't always pivot like is desired the other guy just won't let you). He does conceals his punches very well I will add.

A lot of people are hating on this kid but he's ONLY 20! he'll grow with time and if he has the heart and mentality of a warrior the sky is the limit for him.

BTW I'd love to see him in there with Cintron. I think he can beat Cintron right now and he'll get great experience from a fight with him. Still young though and wouldn't mind if they slow him down and get him a better corner that will further develop him.

Canelo sucks, I really dont understand what everybody sees in him. His hand speed is average and power is over rated. Whats really going to hurt him at the top level is his size he's just too small for jr middle.

hatton is a disgrace just a terrible fighter no skills no punch no business being on that type of stage. shame on boxing for letting that no talent bum hatton in the ring. what an ugly fighter. terrible. Ponce got screwed also.

hatton is a club fighter or just a four rounder. what a disgrace to boxing. plus he is hard to look at maybe the ugliest fighter of all time. just a terrible excuse for a title fight. Alvarez isn't that good but looks like Oscar.

Hatton had more guts than a lot of people expected and was gracious in defeat. He was offered good money for this fight even though he was at a disadvantage in every instance, but he didn't embarass himself. I would watch more of his fights. Alvarez just did to Hatton what Martinez would do to him, with the same disadvantages to Alvarez this time. Simple as that.
