I was impressed with Hatton's ability to take a punch and his defense. Sure, he got hit alot but I remember thinking after the 6th round that it was only a matter of time. But his ability to duck under shots on top of walking right into left hooks several times left me speechless (and don't forget the brutal body shots he took as well). I mean, at the end of every round, he looked and sounded clear in response to the corners questions and everything. If Hatton had some punching power he would be a better fighter but he can't break an egg. It was a gutsy performance considering all the disadvantages against him....

And, what does Canelo do now? He's a champion (well, he's no champion but has the belt) so how are they going to maneuver people they know he can beat into the number 1 position. I mean, he is going to have to defend the title at some point, even with a non-title bout here and there. It will be interesting to see what kind of shenanigans the WBC and GBP try to pull to keep him from defending the belt against the real top contenders so he can try and get better before facing true opposition...

And Hatton fought smart. Every time Alvarez landed good power punches Hatton was already in 1). clinch mode or 2). go to the rope so not to get knockdown or 3). move out of the way. So, that being said Alvarez fought a smart fight didn't exhausted himself like Mike Jones did during his fight against Soto-Karass that one round when he threw one hundred punches lost him a lot of gas power. Alvarez is smart and strong give that kid his due credit at those points. Hatton showed in this fight quick jabs (with no power) and smart thinking (move a lot, clinch, and used the ring to stay in the fight).

I know people here are looking for knockouts but what you got instead was a smart fight. Canelo did his job fought smart and gave a performance. Hatton did his job be a sacrificial lamb (no power low KO rate) and stayed in the fight. So, yea I still stick to what I said. I still feel sorry for Hatton and Canelo's punches has pop in it (which means don't take this kid lightly).
if he has a pop dont you think he should of ko this smaller bum

A great step would have been fighting a real jr. Middle weight! This fight was a preliminary bout at best. Tyson fought the best at 20. Cut the b.s.. This was trash!

Here is my scenario if Marcos Maidana is said to have fist of stones in the 140lbs Junior Welterweight division how come he wasn't able to knock out Amir Khan even during the 10th Round? This is the same Marcos Maidana who made Victor Ortiz (another used to be declared hard hitting JW) quit when the two matched up both knock each other down like silly putties because all they did was stand in the middle threw power punches and took those punches without defense. While, Mattew Hatton took some power punches but he didn't allow Alvarez to hit him a lot. Hatton moved and used defense.

Another scenario, Daniel Ponce De Leon Mexican boxer when he faced JuanMa both had styles of coming forward and the two were said to have knockout power but who got knocked out? De Leon because he didn't use defense and JuanMa basically got a power punch that knocked De Leon out.

So, I still say Alvarez has pop in his punches but his opponent (Hatton) did what needed to be done to survive the game.

Not because he don't have tools to be a good but his team and GBP are rushing him way too fast!!! b4 people start w/ the hate comments cause I'm rican, I do like this kid, I think he's a talent but GBP and his team just put a huge bulls eye to this kid by giving him the green belt in a weight class which you got guys like Angulo, Margacheato, Cotto, Kirtland, even Cintron, P-Will, etc...which in my eyes all these guys have a very good chance to beat him now!!!

On the fight, he made a lot of mistakes:
              1. Dropping the hands
              2. Not ducking the chin
              3. Loose composure (this is a big 1, w/ another referee he would've been disqualified)
              4. Didn't setup punches
              5. Bad defense, got hit way too many times by a class C at most fighter
              6. No hip movement, no angles
              7. Didn't pivot when trowing the hooks or uppercuts
              8. Jumped in w/ hands down
              9. Many others....

Angulo or Cheato will murder him
Cotto or Cintron will beat him easy by points by just giving him some angles.
              Kirt will hurt him bad!!!

Best thing for the kid is to go back ww division and get a new corner and take the foot out of the pedal!!! just take your time!!!
hell yeah even yuri foreman will give him trouble! lol

stfu man, youre pathetic trying to put this kid down. kid is doing a hell of a lot better than your god pacman or new love donaire did at this age..kid's 20 with no serious knowledge of boxing besides fight your heart out. like other dude said about tyson fighting good guys at 20, tyson had cus d'amato who molded him into a beast. by the time cus passed, tyson was ready for the big time, im pretty sure canelo didn't have **** like that. either way thats not an excuse, but still, kid is still not developed yet, let him get grow a little, and if he gets KTFO by someone at like 23 or something, then you can say he is ****.

frankly its really ****** for all u haters out there to knock canelo when hes only 20 yrs old, secondly when has pacroid ever faced anybody in their career and physical prime??????? never . thats when so stop with the hypocrisy. canelo has much to learn he should box more ,hes reying on his power too much, and hatton showed he has a world class chin and conditiong . dude has a chin , way better chin than his brother, overall good performance for canelo , but golden boy is pushing him too fast, they need to copy pacroid, and just face old"name" bums...............
