which fight won fight of the year in 2009? I just rewatched this fight it was amazing. The fact that cotto fought 8 rounds with one of the worst cuts i have ever seen just an amazing slugfest. so i have 3 questions

3. Because although he did get a good win against Yuri Foreman last year he hasn't done anything spectacular, inactivity doesn't help his case, neither does the choice of opponent in Mayorga, although it is a guaranteed good fight and could be used to judge which stage of his career Cotto is.

I wouldn't have it all that high for best fights of 2009.

Not over fights like Marquez-Diaz, Williams-Martinez, Maidana-Ortiz, Dunne-Cordoba, Berto-Collazo, Lopez-Mtagwa, etc..

Clottey has skills, but it's like has some sort of mental block. Not as nicely put, he chokes. As Jim Lampley said, Clottey had almost a dead man in front of him and didn't let his hands go enough. He head-butted his way out of a win against Carlos Baldomir. He was handily out-boxing Antonio Margarito in the early going, but again screwed that one up. People have said that he exaggerated the extent of the hand injury there. While Pacquiao's speed and output obviously troubled Clottey, Clottey did seem to have that "just happy to be here" attitude about him.

It's too bad, because I really like the way he sometimes puts his shots together. I remember him throwing a beautiful series of hooks against Margarito, like a quadruple left hook combo.

I forget martinez vs williams 1 was best fight of year better then than and the diaz vs marquez fight.

I think if cotto beats mayorga and margarito he should be back in the top ten.

I saw a website that sergio martinez is interested in a fall fight with the winner of margarito vs cotto 2 that would be amazing to me?

wasn't amazing... it was frustrating cause cotto was gassed and clottey wouldn't put on the pressure.

cause clottey was afraid of pac's speed and power and he didn't want to get KTFO or embarassed like Diaz, DLH, Ricky, Cotto, and Marg

clottys biggest fear apparently is to be KOed.. so he would rather loose than get KOed. Pac had a lot more chance to KO clotty and that is why he did not fight as aggressively against Pac, plus the fact that cotto was cut probably allowed clotty to be more aggressive.
