Comments Thread For: Haye's Manager: Klitschko Deal Possibly Done Next Week

Adam Booth, manager and trainer for WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KOs), says a deal to fight IBO/IBF/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49KOs) could be finalized by the end of next week. Klitschko, citing an abdominal injury, withdrew from his scheduled fight with Dereck Chisora. The bout was set for April 30 but Haye, and several members of his team, felt the Chisora date was too close to a proposed date of July 2 for the Klitschko unification.

"Official" news is a few days behind. Most of us knew about the Chisora fight being cancelled a few days ago, but the same sources confirm it's all signed up. Venue not confirmed but some people think the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt.

Really? It was everywhere but threads got deleted because they thought it was only rumours. But yeah the info was definitely out there, even Chisora heard the rumours and tweeted about it.

So all this time Wlad Klit was saying that he could fight in April and again in July but today his team stated that they were too close to each other. Isn't that what David Haye said that there wasn't enough time between fights? I think Wlad used Chisora to get Haye to agree to the 50/50 split and now that they have, he has backed out of his fight with Chisora. I hope HBO carries this fight, it seemed this was the only Wlad opponent they were interested in. I won't pay for it but I will definitely watch if it's on HBO...

I don't remember which one (I think it might have been M@xb0xing) but I read several days ago from one sportwriter that he believed the fight with Chisora wouldn't happen. So, when I read that the fight was off, it didn't come as a surprise to me. I wish I had a link for you but as everyone else stated, the rumor was out already...
