The date has been set, May 14, for the all-Mexican showdown between WBC super flyweight champion Tomás Rojas (35-12-1, 23 KO's) and mandatory Juan José "Goofy" Montes (19-1, 12 KO's). No location or venue has been set for the fight. The event will be co-promoted by Zanfer Promotions and HG Boxing. Rojas won the vacant title in September and made the first defense of the belt last month, winning a twelve round decision over former champion Nobuo Nashiro. Montes became the mandatory after an eliminator win over Sylvester Lopez in October.
