Well, I got my answer about Despaigne. And, surprisingly, about Sillakh. I'd never seen the kid fight. Sillakh is a potential star...very impressive tonight.

I think Sillakh presents real problems for anyone at 175 right now and he should be matched up with some of the top names. Even if he loses to one of them I don't see how it hurts his career.

As far as Despaigne, he didn't look horrible and showed good heart coming back after getting knocked down and with the cuts over his eyes. I still hope we keep seeing him.

Among the Cuban defectors, I was never hyped about Despaigne, not like Gamboa or Rigondeaux. Nonetheless, I looked forward to seeing more of him. I agree, he showed heart and he actually seemed to be climbing back into the fight at one point. But he was sloppy early on, probably trying too hard to play up to the Cubans in the crowd. He paid very quickly for that. Sillakh was so much better than Yordanis tonight that I don't see Despaigne ever coming out on top. Nearly every power shot Sillakh landed sounded like a firecracker went off. The kid's got a future. Sillakh handily beat a solid fighter tonight.
