Ortiz is a clown and a quitter, but give the kid his props; he's a solid fighter and he has the Vargas hair.

    That's a powerful combination.

I've seen the entire docu and I must say its kinda of odd to see how things have changed between them. They looked like best friends there, though I must add Rios has always been kinda of immature.

                Thanks for the link....

Watching this video has reassured the way I felt about Victor Ortiz. I think a lot of people don't understand the difference between physical and mental strength. Most automatically think that because you are physically strong, that you are mentally strong as well.....that's not true.

If you listen to what Victor Ortiz says, especially about losing and his family background and what motivates him, IMO I don't think it comes from the right place.

Fernando Vargas was mean and nasty, it was in him. There's a story about how he went into La Colonia gym and he cursed the trainers out and was just a mean little kid. It was always in him, he just needed an outlet for it.

Ortiz on the other hand was sort of forced into boxing by his father because he was beaten up by some other kid. He even said he didn't want to fight and was scared. How people think he's "too nice to box".

I'm not saying you have to be Fernando Vargas but you do need a mean streak in you. Even DLH who is viewed as a nice clean cut guy, was a monster in the ring. When he was pushed, he pushed back.

I think Ortiz is so physically superior to most, that he got away with just talent. When he faced Maidana and was really tested he failed. I think this Berto fight is Golden Boy's way of trashing him.

If he loses vs Berto, his career is over IMO. I don't think this kid has the heart to bounce back from a loss. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see the warrior in this kid. I think his past has affected him too much. He should be a pro surfer, skater or something, I don't know if boxing is for him mentally.

Yeah, anyone that has fought one of their best friends can relate to how intense this would probably be. There's that feeling that losing is simply off the table.
