I tweeted Fatty Rafael about this and said: Decarie against Jones? That is a cake walk for Jones and I want to see the boxing media get on him like they do Berto.

Me: legitimate since Decarie has fought a grand total of 2 fights outside of Canada, one of which he lost?

No response yet from Fatty. I mean really, show me a top 50 opponent (hell maybe top 75) that Decarie has beaten. Better yet, can you tell me that Decarie is really a step up in competition for Jones than Soto Karass was? Why does Berto get crucified but Jones gets a pass?

Berto already has names under his belt that make him a legitimate contender in Forbes, urango, collazo, and quintana.

We wont even get on the fact that Forbes and urango weren't even in their proper weight classes. He also has been a title holder for like two years or some mess now, without facing the elite comp of his division who at that time, and even still. Now Berto calls out everyone at 140, making guys come up, as usual.

Mike jones has been stepping up his level of comp gradually, but has yet to put a big name or real 'gate keeper" on his resume. At this point in his career he's fighting appropriate competition.

Now again, yes Rafael and everybody else has the absolute right to criticize Berto choices of opponents. Because, get this his a title holder. Been one for over 2 years now.

While Jones deserves a pass. Because, get this he's coming up the rankings. Now when he wins a title and is fighting these type of caliber opponents. Then he would deserve the criticism Berto is getting. Until then however....

If Berto wasn't a title holder he wouldn't be getting as criticized as he is now.

As an up and coming fighter when you have as many fights under your belt as M. Jones you should improve your competition with each fight. Decarie is NOT a step up from Soto Karass. Not even close.

To answer your question no I am not going to list my top 75 welters but rest assured that if I did S. Alvarez would not be in the top 50. Maybe the top 75, but not the top 50.

Jones is to the point that he should be looking to really raise his level of comp to make a statement and facing some creation from Canada is not going to do that. Yet Fatty Rafael eats it up with a spoon.
