Almost 69% pick Bowe over Wlad. Wonder how an Ali poll would go?

      ...

      Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis

      THE TRUTH

Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt, was holding on for dear life and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was badly hurt several times in the fight.

      punches landed

      Vitali 156

      Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was clearly the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.

      Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 30 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared his ***** ass into retirement.

George Foreman: "Vitali was winning the fight. Lewis got lucky. There has to be a rematch!"

Jim Lampley: "A lucky escape for Lewis who was clearly losing the fight"

Even Emanuel Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch.

Lewis is scared to death of Vitali.

      ...

On the real though, I see Bowe knocking Wlad out
A prime Bowe in top condition is better than Lewis in my book.

Purrity has the greatest chin of all time, he would probably knockout the featherfisted Bowe.
Wlad beat a lot of guys using his height which is a smart move. Bowe could see eye to eye with him and he wouldnt be able to push him back like the shorter HW's he faced. With Wlad it would take one square hit on the chin and its lights out. When did Bowe become a light puncher. He KOed over 70% of his opponents and rocked Holyfield who has one of the best chins in history. Bowe by KO in 7.

I make Bowe the favorite, but not with the utmost confidence. A slight favorite.

Bowe who would eat Wlad alive on the inside, but how much of the fight will take place there? Wlad is good at controlling the distance the fight is fought at. Another question is how much fighting in and out of the clinch the referee would allow.

Bowe had a lot of tools: good power, excellent in-fighter, nice jab, terrific uppercut, hard overhand right. However, his defense ****** for a world class fighter. He'd slip a shot here and there on the inside but was a total sucker for straight right hands and jabs. Coetzer hit him with consistency, so did Holyfield, of course later on so did Golota with frightening ease. While I think he'd slipped by the Golota fights, it isn't as if he was a good defender before then. He seemed to have a good chin, but didn't exactly face a lot of big punchers. When he did, he was often hurt because of how frequently and cleanly he got tagged. Holyfield (not a huge puncher but he's hurt many tough guys due to timing and accuracy) rocked him in the 10th round of the first fight, in the 5th in the rematch, and nearly took him out in the rubber match. Hide hurt Bowe everytime he hit him clean. If Golota wasn't such a ****ty finisher, he would've stopped Bowe.

I just wonder how many clean right hands Bowe would be able to take from Wladimir, or if he could stop him before Wlad stops him. Bowe of course had his own booming right hand, he could throw a straight one but seemed to prefer an overhand one, sort of like the one Tim Witherspoon liked to use. In this case due to Wladimir's height, it might be ideal for him to throw it at that angle.

In no small part due to his right hand I favor Bowe, but again, not with that much confidence. I'd call it like a 60/40 fight.

a close fight...but Bowe has shown he can fight even when the chips are down. He fights through adversity, Wlad hasnt shown me that. So i pick Bowe.

Excellent analysis. Bowe would have his way with Wlad if he can get his punches off on the inside. That depends a lot on whether Wlad can effectively tie up the 6 foot 5 Bowe. If he can't that swings things a lot in Bowe's favour. On the outside of course Wlad would be the superior, though Bowe's pressure and heavy jab would certainly cause problems. Bowe would be eating a lot of right hands from Wlad a long time before he begins to land his own shots I think. Would he be able to weather the storm and come back in the later rounds (where I ironically feel he'd have the best chance) or would they take their toll before then? It would be a close fight, and I lean slightly toward Wlad via maintaining his composure and fighting to the gameplan over the often erratic and emotionally charged Bowe, but like you I wouldn't want to bet on it.

He landed plenty of solid and heavy punches mainly in the last few rounds of the fight which resulted in a third (legitimate) knockdown. That's one of the fights which, strangely, gave me a better respect for Wlad's chin.

That Wlad loses imaginative matchups, or that people feel the need to create polls of imaginative matchups for Wlad to lose?
