I really like Alvarez to boot, i know he gets a lot of stick on this board but i think he's a sound fighter and expect him to beat Matt by KO but i'm hoping Matty can pull the upset and take his thunder and leave GBP potless with nothing to piss in
well said - there is simply no "x-factor" in his game. He isn't that fast, that strong, that slick, that "defensively sound", aggressive, etc. He is just evenly well rounded boxer who has focuses equally on all the disciplines, but simply never came close to mastering any. I honestly think he has a lot better chance then some people say. he can confuse alvarez with movement like he did ndou, and mix up pot shots with jumping in and out with flurries to catch judges eyes.

Dude - Everything isn't about race. It's about the fact that 2 WELTERWEIGHTS are fighting for a Junior Middleweight title. What about all of the current junior middles that were already highly ranked in the division?? Don't you think they would like to fight for the title. It's pure boxing politics and nothing else. When you bring race into the picture regarding this situation, it only makes you look narrow-minded. Stop it...

its not about canelo's NATIONALITY.....its about the fact that the WBC are moving goalposts to favour their home nation and have got into bed with GBP (oscar = mexican hero) through the lure of making canelo a media superstar (to rival Toprank's manny/nonny double team) which will give WBC lots of sanctioning fee.
nothing against canelo personally....he is just a pawn ...but ALLOWING himself to be a pawn to feed oscar and jose's commercial appetites even though it is at the expense of a good honest decent boxer like hatton, who will never back down no matter what hamstrings they put on him, and who deserves more respect.......thats naive and arrogant and makes me hope for matt to beat him. so he learns that in this game...if u dance with the devil...you wait for the music to stop, but if u **** on ur fellow professional while ur doing it, dont expect any love when the devil has walked off into the sunset and left u without a dance partner.

          The Racket Squad: Saul Who?

          Ya know what gang?
De La is not the brightest bulb in the arena.
The Olympic egomaniac is willing to get in bed just as deeply as Arum with the alpha thugs.
This should just be an old fashioned gloved event but the mob and HBO think titles still mean something.
If you think the alpha organizations are not as corrupt as the fixers of the 1930's and 40's, think again.

This racket needs rehab and reform or it shall become a wasteland.
          Nuff said.

If hatton wins this fight watch how fast rickie sobers up gets clean and makes a comeback. The last thing the elf rickie needs is a brother with a belt.

There was an article a while back stating that Alvarez is already having troubles making the 147 limit (don't forget he is very young and still growing into his physical frame) and that a move to 154 is close on the horizon.

This confirms my skepticism that the WBC changed the catchweight on this fight to a full 154 lbs because Alvarez was having trouble making 150.

Anyone with a brain realizes this is a manufactured title just like the one Manny won against Margarito. This fight should have been at 147 lbs but they don't have a belt to give to Canelo so they moved the weight to make it a 'title fight'. I hope Matthew comes to fight and makes for some interesting moments but this has set up written all over it, however, since it is free, I will still watch it....
