I wouldn't call it Hate as in like real hatred it's more like a very heated rivalry. Both Mexico & Puerto Rico have produced some of the best boxers ever and it's mostly a **** talking fest between the fans because sadly the majority of us are ignorant but the actual fighters show nothing but respect towards each other. Recently Giovanni Segura went to Puerto Rico and was treated very kindly by the puerto ricans, even after he KOd Calderon they still treated him with respect.

Because the media played it up into the biggest rivalry ever circa 1990 when it never really existed that way prior to that date.
