Clottey Gets More Critics For A Reason

Of Manny Pacquiao's recent opponents there is an obvious reason people are still interviewing and criticizing Joshua Clottey. Fans, media, and other fighters like Judah are still skeptical of his performance vs Pac. Reason being, we have seen Pac turn Margarito, Cotto, Oscar, the Mexican fighters into "pizza faces".

For those watching his fight with Clottey, Pac's offense was not that effective against Clottey's Defense, and Clottey's offense was very effective vs Pac's defense. Though Clottey is known to give away close fights like Cotto/Margarito, he did seem to make a real effort to win those fights and build a lead on the scorecard.

When I watch his fight with Pac, it seem's he could of hit Pac at will, in truth, what special fighter gets hit with 3 uppercuts in a row? Not saying Pac isn't great but he is there to be hit. Clottey could/should have done that all night. He even said he didn't feel Pac's punches, and from viewing the film, there wasn't much power on Pac's shots just weak flurries. So simply put, Josh gets criticized still cause many think he could and should have won that fight.

Casual fans see this fight and think he is throwing it on purpose.

It's just a stylistic nightmare for clottey to be honest. He doesn't counter punch and his offensive is either on or off. He waits until his opponent stops punching for him to punch. That turtle shell style will always lose to a high volume punching machines. Watch Winky Wright vs Paul Williams as an example.

Pacquiao never stopped punching. Add to that all the angles, the speed and the footwork of Pac and the result is exactly what we got - a one sided pounding.

That's how you beat clottey - volume. It's no wounder that Margarito owns the compubox record for most punches thrown in a fight in the history of compubox stats, a fight against who else? Clottey.

never hurt Clottey? he was ripping his body up with body shots the whole fight. What fight did you watch?

Pac beat Clottey, Marg, hatton and Cotto the way you're supposed to beat them from a technical point of view. Stop making excuses ho.e 4 i ban you from my site.

            What?!

Clottey is criticized cause casual fans, media, tuned in and covered that fight, they dont get the lack of effort on Clottey's part. Even other professional fighters dont get it.

Clottey is not a counter puncher, he waits for his opponents to stop punching then he opens up. Pac never stopped punching. If he took more risks, the fight probably would've been more competitive.
