I'm a recovered alcoholic with more than two decades of sobriety behind me. Since Pavlik's situation became public I've seen more ignorant posts than I care to count. This post is both ludicrous, and disgustingly condescending.

Since you are recovered does that mean you can go have a drink now? If so than you ain't recovered nor will you ever be. And the facts are that no one on this thread, to include myself, knows the level of problem that Pavlik has and we should all stop pretending that we do.

Kelly would have good fights with Kessler, Johnson, Abraham, Andrade, and a bunch of other people at 168. Let's not pretend like the guys I mentioned are Hopkins or Martinez.

Wow, many on this thread talk as if Pavlik has one foot in the grave and here is someone that makes sense. I will admit that I know nothing about Alfonso Lopez. But, my guess is that he will stand in front of Pavlik and trade with him and therefore he will get destroyed.

I can surely see that as a possibility. Lopez isnt a monster but he can finish guys. Even the best Pavlik would have trouble with those 5 and 6 punch combos. I think this fight would definitely show us where Kelly's heart is. Lopez wont be easy.

of course it would. But pavlik and his people know best what kind of shape physically and mentally he's in. Vera might not be a good idea considering what pavlik's been through. Another loss at this point would be devastating to kelly.

This would be a better fight then 95% of other boxing PPV undercards. Pavlik has to come back sometime, it could be a main event I guess. But this makes alot more sense.

I'm sure he does, but again, Pavlik and his people know what kind of state he's in. Maybe he's not in the best of shape mentally and/or physically, and if that's the case, maybe this lopez guy is the perfect guy for him.

All I'm saying is while Pavlik should definitely beat Vera, Vera comes to fight and he is a proven spoiler, at the very least maybe he could make pavlik look bad and that's not something they want to risk at this point depending on where he's at.
