Comments Thread For: Cotto vs Mayorga: Miguel Told To Stay Off The Ropes

WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs) is being ordered to stay off the ropes in the March 12 defense against Ricardo Mayorga at the MGM Grand. Miguel's trainer Emanuel Steward wants his boxer to stay in the middle or the ring, and not against the ropes where Mayorga will have the ability to use his deadly power punches.

Better yet, if Cotto can connect the left hook to the body while keeping Mayorga's attacks at bay with the jab it will be a successful night for Cotto (10 round KO).

I just want to see Cotto go to war again. Thank god it's against a brawler like Mayorga, it'll be good while it lasts.

Stayin off the ropes is probly the smart thing to do. Mayorga is a dumb fighter. he goes forward but if he lands a punch on Cotto, Cotto will get hurt. I think Cotto wants to practice boxing for the fight agains Margarito. I think Cotto wins UD

I think the fight will end up on the ropes more and more as the fight goes on. I am not counting Mayorga out of this one so easily. Hopefully Cotto can come out with the win though.

I'll bet some points on Cotto over mayorga. Send me a private message if anyone want to put some points.
