Comments Thread For: Cotto vs Mayorga: Robert Byrd Selected as The Third Man

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has selected veteran referee Robert Byrd to be the third man in the ring when Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs) defends his WBA junior middleweight belt versus former champion Ricardo Mayorga (29-7, 23KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on March 12th. Duane Ford and Jerry Roth of Las Vegas have been tabbed to be judges along with Chris Wilson of Arizona. Cotto vs. Mayorga is the main event of a Showtime pay-per-view.

This is a great tune up for a Margarito rematch, Cotto needs a win over a bully type fighter, it's really been his nemesis his whole career. Let's face it he better KO Mayorga or retire before one of these guys kill him.

Don't think the ref will matter too much in this fight...
