Jessie Vargas I hear looked like

From everything I read and heard, this kid has no inside game. Not something I'd expect from the greatest trainer to ever walk the earth.

I hear the fight was A LOT closer than the scorecards. Anyone get to see it?

Yep thats what I heard too apart from the inside bit, and I've been talking up this kid for awhile now, I hope he makes the necessary changes in the gym.

I guess Vargas was boxing him until dude made it rough and he got beat up inside.

I'd like to hear from someone who actually saw the fight.

I haven't sat down and watched that card. I'll probably do it tomorrow. I had it on in the background and I remember the crowd was upset when Vargas got the decision.

Ok, I saw the fight. I wouldn't have gone bezerk over a draw but I thought Vargas won 5-3. He was MUCH better when he boxed favela from the outside 1,2,8. His d is average at best, favela was hitting him clean all night, especially inside when Vargas would shell up and let favela get off. Wasn't impressed with Vargas power either.

I would say he looked like a decent to good prospect. 140 might be a better weight where his height will mean a lot more.

A couple of astericks, favela was the THIRD
guy Vargas trained for that night. I'm sure favela was a big letdown the Jose Armando Santa Cruz. Blessing in disguise though as I think Santa Cruz would dropped Vargas his
first el. Also, this favela dude lost 7 or his last 8, but fought 11 times last year (mostly at lower weights. He drew with lanardo tyner.

Vargas best punch is the left hook, body and head.

He worked the body well and worked in some uppercuts but he was either offense or d. No countering and in his shell or punching.

He damn sure gassed and there was a lot of low blows and punches after the bell. Nice nasty fight.
