Thanks for your reply and great insight.Alvarez hasn't had more than about 33-34 fights, not 50, but what bothers me is that Hatton is NOT a gifted fighter like Alvarez, and only barely 3 months ago was fighting welterweight, 7 lbs less than this fight. He's a life-long 147 lb'er and I think he's up against it this time. I'd like to see him win though. he tries hard, and was in his brother's shadow all through his own career.
Now, since Rick retired, he has had the chance to show himself on his own merits.
Canelo has a problem that has haunted record keepers since time in memorial.
The issue is that of undocumented contests.
Saul was born on July 18, 1990.
Box Rec has his first pro bout as having taken place in October of 2005 with 35 pro bouts indicated.
I saw him fight in Mexico City in Dec. 2008. The ring announcer cited 37 bouts at that event.
I was told by an old timer who worked with Robert Garcia that the kid had at least 45 fights, some of which were not sanctioned. Back in the U.S this 'rumor' was confirmed by more then a few gym **** I encountered.
It goes on all of the time when a youngster needs a few bucks or pesos.
It's a fighting fact of life, especially in poorer Nations and is dangerous.
The point is that it is my belief, based on accurate sources, that Saul Alvarez has been in life and death ring assignments on anywhere from 45 to 55 occasions.
Regarding Matt Hattons weight:
Yes. Canelo may be way too big. But is he actually that good?
I am quite uncertain based on the matchups I have witnessed.Comment
