I feel what you sayin, but do you see where I'm coming from?
I think the ring rankings are pretty good, for the most part, boxingscene ones aswell but theres always gonna be some inconsistencies, no?

poverty stricken people use sports to pull themselves out of the ******... just cause you got a gold chain and a nice whip doesn't mean you are living above the poverty line.

Marco Antonio Barrera came from a wealthy family. And some people hate him for that.

Well controlled anger is the best tool for a boxer.

its not that poverty and hunger makes good fighters...its simply desire. most the time the ones that have nothing and have to dedicate their lives to boxing have the most desire.

but like someone else mentioned, MAB and also the Klitschko brothers came from well off families I believe, and of course still did very well. you dont HAVE to be poor and hungry to be successful.

also something to take into consideration is that drive often depends on context. if where you live is much ****tier than almost every area around you, you will be malcontent with your situation and have more desire.

True indeed. I'd follow Rings rankings before anyone elses Ruben homie. But my whole point is that Larry was making it seem as though there's no merit in looking at BoxRec, when I find that site to be rather important to us Boxing fans. I dont consider that site to be some sort of "Boxing for dummies" like I see a few people treat it as. It is a tool as far as I see it.

Poverty or hunger only helps if that is your drive in life to get out by any means necessary, that generally means leaving that area as quickly as possible to seek better opportunities. Generally once that sort really make it they are the ones that fall off quickly once they get the silk sheets, unless they are just naturally driven.

A naturally driven person can occur in any environment though

I agree, I don't follow the boxrec ranking real serious but the even if the names are mixed up to my liking the important names are generally there above the riff raff so I don't think it is that terrible.

I would certainly follow their ranks over the sanctioning bodies for no other reason than at least their rankings don't exclude the other champions from the other organizations.

Besides it is just one way to rank fighters no reason to get twisted about it, no one else uses a computer formula like that so it is sort of informative and they are consistent.
