        Absolutely legendary!!!!!

In all seriousness, I give Joe props for the Kessler win and for fighting Lacy. Jeff Lacy didn't turn out that good, but he was undefeated and considered a threat at the time.

Roy said on 24/7 he knew Joe had wanted him bad. There was a $5m offer made to fight him in America too.

Roy ducked Sir Joe as did Hopkins.

This was prior to Jones fighting Ruiz. And that makes no sense. It was not up to Joe to "decide" to fight Roy. The ball was always in Roy's court.

              1. Why would Roy even think about Calzaghe?

              2. What was Calzaghe doing to make a fight?

He wouldn't. Especially in the UK where he'd have to fight the ref and judges as well.

                2. What was Calzaghe doing to make a fight?

Next to nothing. He and Warren would make these weak offers only to save face, but deep down inside, they wanted NOTHING to do with Jones, because it would derail their fackin' gravy train. Anyone who was ACTUALLY watching boxing back then, knows this to be the truth.

Exactly. And because of that, they play by Roy's rules. Something that they clearly weren't prepared to do. If you ask me, a fair proposition in 2002 would have went something like this:

Fight is held in the US, 70/30 split in favor of Roy. No if, ands, or buts. Roy was the attraction. Not Joe. Heck, nobody outside of the UK probably had any idea who Calzaghe was at the time! YET EVERYONE knew who Roy was. But Warren and Co. weren't going to take short money and go to the States only to lose. It just wasn't going to happen. They were making too much money beating scrubs in England. Anyone who can't see this, is either blind, or British.

My question was, why would Roy Jones think about Calzaghe? Your answer is: when he was bored out of his mind and had nothing to do? Yup, sounds about right.
