Comments Thread For: Donaire vs Moreno For May is Being Discussed

This is just me thinking outside the box, so just take it with a grain of salt. I think it wouldn't matter, because the only way you can get pushed down on the Ring ratings is thru inactivity, a loss, or an unimpressive win against a no-namer coupled with a win from somebody who's just behind you who just beat somebody who matters in that division.
It will probably go this way if Ring's no. 1 and 2 bantam (Donaire-Moreno) fight happens:
The winner gets the Ring belt, the winner of the Mares-Agbeko fight will move up to no. 2, and both losers will slide down, how low? It depends on how they lost...Comment

If Donaire can win this fight and then beat the winner of the showtime tournament i think he will a shoe in for fighter of the year no matter what anyone else does. And personally i think he can finish them all inside the distance, he will probably wind up only fighting 12 rounds all year in the 3 fights combined.
Its a shame because i really like Abner Mares as a young up and coming fighter, but i dont think these bantams can compete with the size, speed, strength and intelligence of Donaire.Comment

I think it wouldn't really matter, to be honest. He can adapt to any style. He'll lead, he will jab, test your body and throw his vaunted left hook, left uppercut and right straight to get his opponent all riled up. He will bullrush his opponent, especially those moments where his opponent relaxes at bit, check the Darchinyan and the Montiel fights. Darch just got starched, gave a wry smile and wanted to act like he wasn't hurt and next thing you know, Nonito was on to him. Montiel blinked for a moment, and Donaire was already right in front of his mug with evil intentions written all over his face in a split second. The moment his opponent think that the fight is getting out of hand or they can't win the fight if they let Nonito fight from the outside, Nonito will lure them to come in baiting his wide open face, and BOOM! You know the drill...Comment

Moreno is a masterclass, I don't get why he isn't one of the most popular fighters in the world right now. I give Nonito the slight edge because of his composure/skills/power, but that could be a great fight.Comment
