Well, he's right. Montiel got a good start in the 2nd round and landed som good (counter)shots but he just got careless. Come on now, everyone knows that Donaire's counter left is vicious. He knocked out Vic, who's normally iron chinned, with that single punch. He also landed that left hook on Montiel in the beginning of the first round. Montiel should have taken that as a warning and a wake-up call.
If you're going to throw your straight right without working behind the jab then you must be 100% confident and sure it'll land and then quickly move away. Ask Hopkins or Mayweather. They now how to throw it and avoid getting hit.
With that said, it was the right gameplan for Montiel. He knew he couldn't fight Donaire from distance. He had to pressure him and get close. He just got careless and Donaire took advantage of that as he knew where Montiel's head would be.
Well deserved win for Donaire but I can't help feeling bad for Montiel losing in that fashion. It was a great fight.Comment

That's weird, because Montiel supposedly has the longer reach...Comment

Vasquez Jr is strong enough to do damage if he can get beyond Nonitos jab. The speed difference is will favor Nonito, and I see this as a Pacquiao/Cotto type fight based on the physical attributes of each man. I favor Nonito by mid to late round stoppage. Vasquez is a boxer puncher who's kinda flat footed.Comment

I think Varzquez Jr will have his time with Nonito anytime next year if Nonito becomes undisputed at 118 then moves up to 122.Comment

WV2 has noting to offer to DONAIRE's superb boxing skills
flat footed brawler will be countered all night i see a DARCHI outcome in this one.Comment

After the first engagement (R1) my hopes for a war went down the drain. I noticed two things:
1) Nonito had a serious reach, and speed advantage.
2) Montiel wasn't doing ANY head movement. I'd never seen him fight and it seemed he was reacting very slow to Nonito's actions. Did he normally fight stiff like that? Why did he throw that shot and not protect himself by ducking or moving away he sort of stared at Nonito like, " POW I GOT YOU ", only to get KTFO a few milliseconds later...Comment

I have the fight on my dvr and in real time, the left hook came a split second after Montiel touched Donaire's face. He's got no time to admire his work, and all these Montiel-Donaire sigs that you see here are in super, super slow-motion...Comment

All they wanna do is cry into a microphone while their little tiny friends play HUGE fackin guitars and accordions. It's the Mexican way.... AYE!!!!! AYE !!! AYE!!!! Whey!!!!!
Mexicans are the most feminine minded men on earth. Look at Vargas holding a Fackin grudge against DLH because he fell 15 years ago while jogging and Oscar De La Hoya, ran by and giggled... WTF!!!!!????
Watch Chavez Sr. after a loss and you will see the btch-like Mexican way.
Buncha fackin lady-indians...Comment
