But Max has no social tact.

There's some things which are best left unspoken, it's just social common sense.

I remember Max had quite an infatuation with Peterson, so perhaps he subconsciously resents Rios for beating him.

I can see why Garcia would be upset but I can also see what Kellerman meant.

By 'A' level he meant top five or so (I think). I don't think he actually meant to slur Garcia's other fighters. Rios is a very good prospect, Margarito has had a decent career & there are a few other good guys coming through, but Donaire is up there in the top four - in my humble opinion - alongside You, Know & Who.

Kellerman probably thought he was paying him a compliment. Wrong....

I agree with Max's comment and also agree with the reaction Garcia had. He didn't have to respond but he did and defended his fighters. Even though i dont think there topnotch, he still had his fighters back and defended them, thats what any good trainer would do. back his fighters.

well to be fair to kellerman he's not too far off in his assessment of garcia's stable. he's got a lot of talent working with him, and he has the makings of a great trainer down the road if his fighters can make it to the top and have good runs there.

            rios is largely unproven
margarito isnt what he used to be, and wasn't ever much more than a durable, come forward type guy
mikey garcia is still in the latter prospect stages. i like the kid, but he's not an A-level fighter yet

donaire was an A level talent who became an elite fighter and a star and an A - level name in boxing only this saturday.

he was somewhat inactive, and lacked a marquee name on his resume following his destruction of darchinyan in '07

he's undeniably a top 5 p4p fighter and he looks to have the tools to stay there
or perhaps even become the world's best somewhere down the line

HBO is looking to make a star out of donaire. he looked 200% lethal on saturday against another p4p guy (though perhaps overrated at the time) and potential hall of famer

he wasnt an A level type fighter
and neither were any of his stable mates

now he's an a level fighter
and both rios and mikey garcia have work to do to follow in those footsteps

if kellerman were to apologize to garcia for offending him and then offer some sort of explanation of what he meant he'd certainly be showing robert the respect he deserves

garcia is clearly one of the up and coming trainers in the sport
he does good work with some tremendous fighters
and i'm sure kellerman recognizes that.
