The ref got it right. Montiel made the count and he stepped right in when he saw him take those shots from Donaire.

The Ref got it wrong, the reason you ask someone to step forward is to check their equilibrium and if they are aware enough to respond to commands. Montiel did not step forward when asked 3 separate times. The fight should have been stopped right there.

Who cares what he would have said. If Montiel could have kept fighting he would have stepped forward when the ref asked him to.

My Grandma came back from the P.I. last Sunday and I asked her if she watched the the Donaire fight and she said yes.
