Comments Thread For: Arum on Pacquiao Rise, Return To Las Vegas, More

After forty-plus years in the game there seems to be very little that would throw off Top Rank CEO Bob Arum. This past weekend the veteran promoter could be seen making the rounds in Las Vegas for the Fernando Montiel-Nonito Donaire event at the Mandalay Bay and it was business as usual for Arum.

Words of Arum - 'For me it's like a sporting contest' - referring to boxing. The old crackpot needs to lay of the hooch!

I don't believe that you are as ****** as you sound, just wanted to make a wisecarack against Arum, who doesn't know you even exist. Arum is probably the best promoter ever to be in boxing, and we are damned lucky to still have him. Who else at his age is even remotely half as active and as deeply involved and INTERESTED. He has done damned good jobs for all his contracted fighters and still keeps an eye on those long retired, some of whom are in bad circumstances and supported by his benevolence. There was an article on one of those guys a week or two ago, forget who he was but he certainly stated that Top VRank has been there from the beginning with medical expenses for many years as well as housing and living expenses.

We don't hear about these things from Arum, and maybe we don't want to. But it's about time that the guy got his due credit for all the good he's done both for his fighters and us.

EVen just yesterday there was an article in which it was stated that Arum promoted the first 35 or so of Oscars fights as well as about the first 30 of Mayweather's. (figs approx

THEY haven't done so badly out of Arum have they?? And you can multiply them by hundreds I'm sure. Where are all the fighters who are suing Top rank they way they sued Don King and Golden Balls?? They aren't there.

Yea, I don't hate on Top Rank. **** if I were a boxer I'll go with Top Rank. Right now, Marco Antonio Barrera is being promoted by Top Rank. He left Golden Boy right after the Khan fight. And another thing, Arum really cares about his boxers even with Margarito everyone was ****ting on him but Arum stood by him through and through. I don't see that many promoters do the same service as Top Rank does with its fighters.

So, peace out. I like making fun of Arum from time to time but sometimes the guy really deserve respect and credit. Also, I think Arum wants to play with Dibella by putting Mike Jones with Andre Berto. And at the same time Arum is promoting Andre Berto vs Victor Ortiz because bad news is better than no news. If no one is talking about your fighter then nobody wants and knows them. Ex. What the hell ever happen to Devon Alexander? Yea, he made a stinking fight but **** you don't even hear from him no more.

chill out mate i was merely stating that arum is losing it slightly as he referred to boxing as 'like a sporting contest. anyhow, although arum has been a good promoter over the years, at the moment he is hurting boxing by only allowing his fighters to fight boxers in his stable or against opponents who he knows will lose. there are lots of very good fights that wont happen because of arums feuds with various promoters and managers. as to your comment about arum not knowing who i am, i suppose hes your uncle is he?

After provably 10-12 years Arum's dream will become a reality. Pacquiao will be the President of the Philippines. I like the old man.
