Sinan Samil Sam - what's the word on the street?

I think this guy's pretty decent, I have to say. No world beater, that's for sure, but then why does he have to be? They can't all be top of their division, so any replies along the lines of "he would get pwned by Vitali Klitschko" are invalid.

But at European level the guy's pretty much unstoppable. Never been knocked out, he was nearly the unluckiest man in the world after being KDed by Peter Okhello in the final round in June... this after (in my opinion) he'd won every single one of the first eleven rounds. Sure, some were close... but on the official Anorak scorecard I had it 110-99 going into the last round. Luckily for Sam (though it could have been more of a stumble, he was up right away) the bell went.

He can take a punch (his only two losses are on points, an average 98-92 points loss to Juan Carlos Gomez, and a close majority decision loss to Luan Krasniqi) and he can **** a bit, as his 15 KOs from 24 wins attests. Though my much-beloved Danny Williams later claimed to have been diagnosed with shingles after their bout (and judging from his performance I possibly believe him) it was clear Sam would be a handful for him at any time.

What I rate most about the guy is his defence... it's pretty watertight. Only ranked in the top five of the WBC, Sam would probably get taken apart by most of the top twenty... but he's a good, solid pro who is decent on the basics.

The only time I have ever seen this guy is when he fought Danny Williams. He impressed me alot in that fight. Wander why he hasn't made a name for himself yet?

he is a relentless fighter. and his biggest assets are his determination and his turkish granite chin............he is an in-your-face type opponent...

i think he is a top contender and an entertaining fighter to watch....i look forward to him fighting maskaev, and i predict he'll win a points decision......

I remember I saw him fight Williamson? May have been Darryl Williamson?... (All I remember is they kept saying, "SOMEONE'S "0" MUST GO!!!")

He got out boxed pretty easily... He's a little one dimensional

But I still enjoy watching Sinal Sam fight!

I can remember when Sinan Samil Sam beat Audley Harrison in the final of the 1999 World Championships, looked pretty good.

he is indeed a little one dimensional, but like i said, he is in your face..........so unless you want to try and KO him, you have to be on the back foot and pick him off and take a points decision..........this is what juan carlos gomez and luan krasniqi did......

otherwise it is difficult because he is turkish..........and turks don't go down at all..

Yeah, he's one-dimensional, but what he does, he appears to do well. I wonder what would happen if it was him and Ruiz? He might beat Ruiz, actually.

Those rough and tough strong guys are not an easy fight for anyone. He'll continue to have a spotty record, losing to guys he should lose to while achieving the occasional upset. Personally, I'd like to see him in with the big boys (not Vitali but a Rahman or a Tua) now and see what happens.
