you know, I hate to say it but Im with you...it amazes me how these filipino fighters can go up in weight knock people out like nothing. It was a mistake for HBO to have shown Donaire with Conte, that will get people talking. It wont surprise me if Donaire pulls a Mosley and says he was juicing for fights a few years down the road

Well UNILIKE Pacquiao, Donaire said that if anybody has ANY DOUBTS about him or his abilitys cause he's now working with Conti, that he is WILLING to take ANY type of drug test ANY time!!! If Donaire or Conti were doing something illegal, I don't think they would want the public to know they were working together(especially with Conti's reputation), they would try to keep that at the lowest profile as they could!!

Be careful with that thinking that Donaire is fighting smaller guys, coz according to these people, esp Dave Rado (bless him), weight is size. To them a 200lb 6'2'' man is the same size as to a 5'8" man of the same weight. It's obvious that the taller guys has the bigger dimension and proportion which translate to a lot of power.

People, I'm not denying Donaire's talent, he only need to fights guys his size. Kaput.

Yes SOME TIMES the taller fighter does have it's advantages, but that's NOT always the case..For example-->Tyson was the way shorter fighter vs most of the heavyweights he knocked out, Marvin Hagler 5'-9" vs Tommy Hearns 6'-1"(Hagler by KO), Sergio Martinez 5'-10" vs Paul Williams 6'-1"(1st time close fight, I & many others though Martinez won & the 2nd time Martinez by KO), Sergio Martinez 5'-10" vs Kelly Pavlik 6'-2"(Martinez by UD), Edison Miranda 5'-10" vs Allan Green 6'-2"(Miranda by UD), Pernell Whitaker 5'-6" vs Julio Cesar Vazquez5-8"(WBA 154lbs world title)Whitaker by UD & feather fisted Ivan Calderón was the shorter fighter in about 95% of the fights he won by using PURE boxing skills.. those are just a few examples of many more.. So ¿Did Montiel have a chance to win? Yes he did, but Donaire's power didn't allow that to happen & since round 1 it was obvious that Donaire was the quicker fighter & had better defensive skills..If they would have been the same height that punch would have gotten threw & the out come would have been the same..By the way, according to HBO Montiel had the reach advantage!!!

I don't see Mares having any chance against this dude at all. Agbeko? Hemight have a chance perhaps due to him being a little bit faster than Mares. But I still think that either one will get blown out by the Flash. I thought Donaire put everyone in the batamweight division on notice when he slaughtered Sidorenko. Now he just basically told eveyone at bantam - "Don't f_ck with me!". Vic Darchinyan, for your own good, don't ever again mention the name Donaire.
good post, the ko's both, martinez' and donaire's it's like 1) and 1a), pick which one goes where according to your preference.

it's a coin flip each time i think about it.

Montiel was just seconds away from being fully recovered, he is like a cyborg or something. I do not think Donaire or "anybody" could have taken that shot and got up for more! Montiel is DA MAN! Nonito is DA Man too for being so precise , I would love to see a rematch.

The punch was excellent and Nonito said it was the hardest shot he's ever landed on someone. That says a lot because he knocked Darchinyan into next week. On topic, the fight was slightly stopped prematurely given that Montiel did get to his feet after being severely flattened. The two follow up punches weren't all that bad. Maybe he would recover. There's no shame in the loss. Everyone knew it wasn't going the distance and everyone knows it was all about who got caught first. I gaurantee Donaire goes to sleep on Montiel's best left hook as well. I had Fernando winning rd 2 before the tko, incidently.

I don't know about the reach advantage...

Exactly, Tyson was fighting guys so much bigger than him and knocking them out, obviously he was not just any boxer, his kind only exist once in a lifetime. If he was only fighting smaller guys, he wouldn't be the phenomenon that he was. What I'm saying is, Donaire has the power and talent, don't let it go to waste by fighting smaller guys who will likely fold from the size/power advantage of Donaire.
