vanes is a top ranked 154 fighter. he's also undefeated.

plus cotto is a big draw on hbo. probably the biggest draw on regular hbo right now.

    don't understand it.
i agree and it was at a bargain price which was gonna set-up cotto-cheato if cotto would get by vanes.

Bob said he wanted the fight on CBS. Why was he dealing with HBO in the first place.

There are not a lot of known opposition out there for Martinez, if HBO is intent on Martinez being one of the main guys they need to showcase guys he could be fighting.

JCC Jr. is the most well known in this part of the world~ so he would be a good place to start showcasing possible future opposition for Martinez.

If HBO was sincere about only making top quality competitive fights they would be building Pirog up for Martinez not Chavez Jr.

They already know Pirog and had him on, he is more in the near term than Chavez.

Ratings are ratings even to HBO, and why build just one guy up~ then even if Martinez vanishes (or gets erased) you still have fights are ready made after he is gone.

I dont really understand the first part of your post but as far as ratings go Cotto vs Vanes would do a better rating then Chavez-Zbik so it doesnt even make sense on that level. Not to mention that its a higher quality fight.

Pirog has already been on HBO and is a more realistic near term option for Martinez, Chavez Jr. is a down the road thing (or a second choice in a pinch).

Chavez Jr. fight will cost at least half as much and draw more than half the ratings a cost benefit analysis would call that smart money~ then you consider what they can possibly build for him.

Cotto has no real future on regular HBO, he could have fights on HBO but anything major would be PPV. Big difference and they don't need to build Cotto anymore.

yup and thats why you don't let your 2 fighters, (outside of floyd) that produce the best ratings,(pac, cotto)go to showtime.
