Why did Donaire have such a hard time against Concepcion?

I really don't get that. Concepcion is a B fighter at best, with a crappy record. Was it out of some kind of mutual pinoy respect that Donaire didnt wanna embarrass him or was it because Concepcion, being a pinoy, knew Donaire's style better and could adapt to it?
