He came to the U.S. as a 10 year old now he is 28 years old been an American citizen for a while and Americanized too.

Why can't he be like Oscar de la Hoya proud being an American (U.S. Gold medalist) and proud of his heritage as a Mexican? I know Donaire can speak better English without that ****** twang he keeps putting so he can connect with the Filipinos. Donaire can speak English as a Californian without an accent.

So, like Merchant said "I see him as an American-Filipino" and so do I.

P.S. Donaire tried for the U.S. Olympic boxing team that to you says what type of a person he is just an ordinary American (with Filipino heritage) fighting one round at a time for greatness.

Donaire does not have that ****** attitude to appeal to the urban market, which basically compromise a big part of the American audience for this sport. The brother aint got no soul...

It's a lot easier for him to appeal to his ethnic community in the US, and to the people from his homeland, considering there's already foundation for him to do so..

Its true that he tried out for the US Olympic team. But his professional career is based on the fact that he is known more as Filipino fighter than an American fighter, and the audience that followed his career is basically Filipino and Fil-am from since the Darchinyan fight..

Although it wont be too bad if he tries to market to both audience..

The reason he can't be the next DLH and such is he fights at a weight most of the world couldn't give a **** about.

Alot of boxers may start early at that weight but they move up and doing so get more popular due to the opponents in the higher weight classes.

Don't give me that the-same-weight excuse, he has never fought anyone his size. He's 28yrs old at 118, are we going to see him in 147? At this rate, no chance in hell.
So sad. I didn't realize fighting someone 2 inches shorter would be like David Vs Godzilla in your fantasy world. Maybe Donaire should apologize to you since he obviously offended you.

And when did Pac chase after guys 'His Size'? Was that a joke? Where's your "Punch line"?

Dude, you cannot say Nonito is an American with Filipino heritage, b-coz 1st Donaire wasn't born in US even his parents. They migrated to US when he was at the age of 10, i think, if I'm not mistaken. So technically Donaire and the rest of his family in US are Filipino-American. American citizen by virtue of naturalization.

However, you can apply the "American with Filipino Heritage" to such personalities like Jessica Alba,Tia Carrere & Rob Schneider.

Having a US citizenship entitles you to become a part of US Olympic boxing team, however, he failed to make it because of another Fil-Am in the name of Brian Viloria.

Boxing is not about size, it is about weight and Donaire beats all his opponents fair and square. If you talk about size then look at the Klitskho brothers. Get your facts straight dude.

Donaire is a midget (if you must use such ****** words). Montiel was the naturally heavier man in their fight, and outweighed him by 6lb on the night. Are you one of the idiots who thinks boxing has height classes rather than weight classes?
