Donaire is no ordinary counter puncher!!!!

What seperates donaire from the lame ass counter punchers today is that he tries to knock your head off with every counter. Dude has bad intentions on every shot Which makes him very exciting. One mistake and your unconscious. Most counter punchers just punch at the target donaire tries to punch a hole at his.

you can't be a great counter puncher without a high boxing IQ.

guys like judah just go threw the motions, but they aren't really thinking.

He had to time that punch, from Montiel who has 1 punch ko power btw, and roll with the punch, while already throwing a lefthook. Plus his feet had to be planted. That was very risky move.

yep, too risky against a puncher like montiel. if nonito saw the punch coming, he should've ducked under and then throw the left hook

one thing that really stands out about donaire is his being a complete fighter. his footwork and body movements almost flow in perfect rhythm. he can even afford to experiment certian styles and strategies during actual fights.

Donaire based himself off of Alexis Arguello.

his counter punching is more surprising because hes faster than Arguello ever was, although not as skilled.

Yes, in the first round, Donaire buzzed Montiel with the exact same counter but he ducked montiels hook which took away some power. In the second round he let montiels punch land on him and countered with a hook that had more leverage then any punch i have seen at that weight

Donaire does experiment with his style alot. Against Marquez, he kept switching over from southpaw to orthodax over and over just trying some stuff out

I was actually suprised that he didnt go southpaw against Montiel because Montiel has shown to have tons of trouble with lefties
