WBA Lightweight champion, Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta landed in Las Vegas today for his big showdown against Brandon Rios next Saturday in Las Vegas. Acosta who will take on Rios at the Palms was accompanied by his father and trainer Rafael Acosta, his brother Enrique Acosta and his wife Karla. The fight will be telecast by Showtime.
Acosta, 28-3-2, (22 KOs) of Caracas, Venezuela, has won 19 fights in a row and for seven years, remains undefeated. Acosta has beaten three undefeated fighters in his last eight bouts.
Rios, 26-0-1, (18 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., gave a sensational performance at the Palms where he looked powerful and precise while scoring a career-best win, a seventh-round disqualification over Anthony Peterson in a battle of rising stars.
