    Nonito Donaire's Height Issue

It wasn't too long ago when I thought that Paul "The Punisher" Williams was way too big to contend at 147.

As a matter of fact, I falsely regarded him as somewhat of a coward for doing so, especially after he got mopped by Martinez.

A little while later, I got started thinking about other Great Boxing Champions that've made quite a name for themselves by contending with and even defeating other Greats that were way too big for them in terms of height and/ or weight.

Here are a few "little men" that have proven that size is NOT an issue:

    1) Sam Langford a.k.a. "The Greatest Fighter that Nobody Knows" - He was a HEAVYWEIGHT that was no taller than 5'7 but is currently considered by many to be one of the Top 15 P4P Greatest of All-Time..

Here's a direct quote from Jack Dempsey (who's arguably regarded as the Greatest Heavyweight of All-Time by many): The hell I feared no man. There was one man I wouldn't fight because I knew he would flatten me. I was afraid of Sam Langford.

    2) Joe Frazier - Wasn't he 4 inches smaller when he dropped Ali?

    3) "Sugar" Ray Leonard - Was size really an issue when he stopped Hearns (who's also 2-3 inches taller)?

So if anything else, it's Donaires opponents that should take full credit in terms of not having the skill (and SKILL ALONE) to defeat him.

These are things we should contemplate on before attempting to discredit Nonito Donaire for everything he's accomplished thus far.

DONAIRE'S HEIGHT IS NOT, NEVER WAS AND NEVER WILL BE AN ISSUE.

So personally, I'd want Nonito to clean out his current division and then move up after in order to prevent complaints somewhere along the road that "he ducked the best in his division by moving up."

    It's just not fair.

But if he decides to stay at 118, please think "Langford, Frazier and Leonard. Langford, Frazier and Leonard. Langford, Frazier and Leonard."

    You should do okay.
