I'd think so. He adjust his range pretty quickly from what I see. And he does this on the defensive end as well. Montiel was figuring him out in round 2 and put out some very nice counters to Donaire. But Donaire was pretty quick not to overcommit on his punch on the next couple of sequences. Setting up very nice hook ( though eating a right before that
). His ability to adjust is what I think is his main advantage ... which would work regardless of size.
Anyway, if he stays at 118, we could have our answer. Montiel is not the only P4P fighter in that division IMO. He is Donaire's "size" that and could give him fits.
What I don't understand is people want Donaire to move up immediately. He was 8-9lbs below Montiel's weight on fight night. He need some time before moving up. Also, the 118 is rock solid. It is just a relative unknown division... but have names like "Perez , Moreno, Agbeko, Mares, Morel, Darchinyan, Cermeņo".
