This is the same Manny that was a known late night pool hustler, had an illegitimate child, multiple affairs, and was known as a party animal after his breakout win over MAB. Donaire has done what to make you think he's some kind of rockstar? When you attract as much attention and love as he does from an entire nation not a select group of sports fans like Donaire then you must be pretty exciting.
Calm down, Shirley Temple. I meant in interviews and TV persona. I don't really care about boxers personal lives like who they **** or do coke with. It stands to reason he should have the support of his own country. Its not like they have a ton of star boxers to support. My opinion stands.....exciting in the ring, boring out of it.

I agree, not to mention he's a better boxer whose not scared of needles

Oh sorry I didn't know we're going by star power in boxing. Ok so let's exchange paypal info and I'll bet that your "bigger star" Donaire never outsells a Manny PPV. Sound good Shirley?

Edit: I have a grand that say Manny will never be outsold in PPV by the "bigger star" Donaire.

Of course those two guys will be more popular, they are the faces of the sport. Donaire is just starting to come into his own and has to continue to build onto his resume. It would be tough to surpass Manny as a public figure but if he accomplishes a percentage of what Manny has done in the ring then all the outside the ring things would be in his favor to pass him as a superstar. Donaire has a long way to go but the fact that he speaks English well and knows American culture and customs is going to make him a superstar if he keeps winning.

So are you saying you'll bet Donaire will be the biggest star in boxing in a year from now?

Donaire could become a bigger star here in America because of his fluency in English and because he's Filipino-American, but he'll never be as big as Pac in the Philippines.

Pac is bigger than Ali, Jordan, and Woods combined in the Philippines. He single-handedly brought a global spotlight to the nation.

Before Pac, nobody in the mainstream was talking about the Philippines. I appreciate the country for starting a boxing revolution there and in the U.S. as well by bringing world class fighters to the global arena.

I have no doubt in my mind that if HBO and Donaire's career evolve that he will set PPV records for the lower weights. He will ultimately break JMM/Pac 2's ppv record for lightweight ppv buys.

No, he's right man. To most people, especially Americans, Manny is boring. Yeah, he does off the wall things and is a happy guy but it doesn't really translate that well on the television. People like him outside of the ring but I'm not sure anyone really says "yo, that's a really cool dude. I want to party with him." Nonito being able to speak English and speak it well, not to mention being very respectable to his fans and opponent really open a new avenue for him. Manny may be awesome to his people but I don't think many think he's exciting outside of the ring. Nonito is a breath of fresh air and has the chance to do both.
Thanks......exactly what I said and meant. G-K given.

Where do you come up with this **** man? A year? I said as the dudes career progresses. That means many more wins and many more showings on HBO. Superstars aren't born in a year or two and although Donaire has been a top fighter for a while now, he is just getting onto the big stage in the eyes of causal fans.

lol nice try Check, but I caught ya red handed. When someone talks about PPV records they don't mean the record for the 105 lbs fight for the WBA super interim unified continental americas champion between two guy with long and funny sounding last names. They mean the ALL TIME PPV RECORDS. Like Tyson, Joto, Floyd, Manny you know guys that have sold more than 1 million PPVs. Donaire will never ever outsell Manny in PPVs. You heard it here first.
