This won't be a popular opinion, but Montiel really didn't have a chance to do anything. As soon as the referee moved his arms out of Montiel's view, Donaire was already right in front of him trowing punches when he should have been coming from the corner.

Montiel is a warrior but i don't think its has to do with "heart". His a fighter and been knockdowned before. Even though his dazed/hurt, he knows he got 10 seconds to get up or he will lose. He wanted to beat the count, which he did cuz the ref stop and let him continue. Its a natural reaction.
