Who is the best American boxer right now?

I would have voted for Floyd, but I somehow missed his name on the list, so I picked Donaire.
He's Filipino to me, but if your asking about boxers who are American citizens, then yeah, Donaire is right behind Floyd.Comment

If you count Mayweather(I'm not sure if I do or not), he is the one.
If not, I think Donaire is probably best right now, if you count him, Maybe I'm caught in the moment, but he's pretty damn good.
Hopkins can still get it done though, close second.
Ward is very good too.
Berto is excellent but hasn't gotten his chance yet.
Bradley is solid but hasn't really won impressively.Last edited by Visceral; 02-20-2011, 04:22 AM.Comment

Berto is probably excellent but we haven't seen him fight anyone but Collazo and Quintana. Bradley is doing him damndest as well, but...
It's still the Floyd Mayweather show, love it or hate it. Once he and Pac are gone we'll get a better view of who's who.Comment

It amazes me how overrated Floyd Mayweather is.
All he's done is cherry-pick throughout his whole career, fighting either old opponents or boxers from smaller weight divisions.
He ducked prime Casamayor, prime Mosley, Tszyu, prime Margarito, Cotto, Forrest, and now Pacquiao.Comment

Mayweather for sure, but if he stays inactive for much longer I would put Hopkins in the #1 spotComment

Berto is clearly American but I wouldn't classify Nonito as an American in fighting terms. The answer is Mayweather, he is arguably the best fighter in the world. My list would go:
1. Floyd Mayweather
2. Andre Berto(yes, I understand he hasn't fought anyone but when he does you will be amazed)
3. Tim Bradley
4. Bernard Hopkins
5. Andre WardComment
