these are two elite fighters & the margin for error in this fight was of great importance. Donaire saw a slight opening & took advantage.

Montiel was vulnerable to that counter left hook of Donaire, he should have been seen that when he studied Donaire in his training.

He didn't make any adjustment to it...even after receiving about 2-3 counter left hooks in the 1st round.

Maybe Montiel must have also underestimated Donaire's power.

That's not what I meant- Montiel lost because of a perfectly set up left hook by donaire- but even if you take that away, donaire was beating him to the punch everytime, and was always a split second ahead of him.

Both in strategizing and executing, as well as reacting.

Yeah Donaire's eyes are sharp.

Looking at it again I have no idea why he telegraphed that right hand so obliviously. Especially against a lightning quick fighter like Donaire.

That's not something professionals should do.
